At 6:00pm, Michel and I were already sitting in the bus waiting for the rest of the group to arrive. We had more than an hour's drive ahead of us in this crazy traffic and Sadat, our driver, was hoping to make it on time before the start of the Pyramid's Magical Sound and Light Show which was starting at 7:30pm.

Unfortunately, from the looks of it, we weren’t going to make it as Sadat shook his head and extended the departure's deadline time by another fifteen minutes.  We were waiting for five missing persons from the group to show up in order for all of us to leave.  However, they were nowhere in sight!

Fifteen minutes later and still nowhere in sight, just as Sadat was about to leave the hotel's grounds, the people we were waiting for appeared out of nowhere.  Talk about luck!  Once they boarded the bus, off we went with Sadat driving the bus full speed ahead down the roads and then the freeway just like a madman but a good madman!

The traffic was completely chaotic and packed but this didn’t bother him as he manoeuvred this huge monster of a bus in between very narrow passages and in the process, wildly cutting cars all over the place and zigzagging rapidly here and there as he tried to make up on the lost time.  Sitting right behind him, I could see very well that he was making the impossible come true and through all of this, not even scratching the bus.  Everyone on board was amazed at his crazy driving skills and thankful for arriving on time at the magical light show.  Hip, hip hurray for Sadat!

Michel and I elected to sit on the right side of the platform and way at the front.  We had extremely good seats and this allowed me to take wonderful pictures.  Darkness soon enveloped us and with it came the coldness.  I was warmly dressed being all wrapped up with a comfortable coat with hood, gloves and everything else but was freezing for those not warmly covered up.

The magical sound and light show finally started and just like it was advertised, it was superb.  All of us were highly entertained as the music and the light brought back to life the ancient Pyramids of Giza.  In the process, the mystical Sphinx took us on a narrated journey through Egypt’s amazing history by projecting images of kings and queens on the Pyramids in front of us.  The show was masterfully created and was well worth seeing.

After an enjoyable 2 hours of sound and light show, we were off again in the traffic but this time, not as rushed!

Thankful for wonderful sound and light shows!
