Today we took a break from our errands and did a road trip into the Kananaskis with Joan and Fred.  When we left Cochrane the temperature was 11C but we soon found ourselves experiencing 0C and snow flurries as we gained elevation.  The Logan Pass is still closed so there was little traffic on the road but lots of wildlife about. We saw a marmot (no picture), mule deer, elk and a coyote. The ice is just breaking up on some of the lakes and the water level in the reservoirs is low in anticipation of spring run-off which occurs in June.  This will be a great drive later in the year.  We checked out some of the camping sites for suitability for 'big rigs'.  Some would accommodate our needs but the parks were built before large units were common.  Tents and smaller units have lots of choice.  Many of the parks are not open for camping although some are plowing certain areas to reduce the snow prior to the long weekend demand.  Others are open all year for ice fishing, skiing and snowshoeing.  The scenery in this area is wonderful.
