We woke to rain again this morning. So far we have had one day without jackets and little warmth. Arizona is starting to look really good in comparison to this eastern seaboard weather! However, we have a few more things to do before heading west. We waited until we had a slight letup in the rain before moving on to Ocala to visit with friends, one of which is a former high school teacher of Don's.
On the way we had a late lunch at a Florida landmark - Angel's Diner in Palatka - with a fifty's décor, menu and prices. We moved on using some secondary highways and county roads and passed through some major market garden and horse farming areas - the first 'good' land we have seen for some time. It is amazing how the landscape changes just a few miles from the coast. By late afternoon we arrived at Oak Run - a planned community in southern Ocala. The Beast was settled into the overflow parking area and Bob and Eileen soon had us settled into Burntlands South for a great dinner and reminiscing.
