Early this morning we finally got a chance to use the bikes. Don had unloaded and cleaned them yesterday so all we had to do was fill the water bottles and don our helmets. First stop was the fishing pier to watch the dolphins at play and then onto the beach for a fantastic trip along the shore. The weather is some milder, the sun is shining and the sand is smooth and hard at low tide. We biked for five miles to the convention centre (about half the length of the island) and decided to stop at Zack's for a sandwich for lunch. Then over to the heritage district to find the sweet shop for an icecream cone before returning to the park, this time via excellent bike paths. For a couple of oldies that haven't been on their bikes for a year, we didn't do too badly!
After a quick supper, we were off to the Brunswick library to hear a lecture by Steve Barry, author of the Charlemagne Pursuit. They have a great library and there were about 150 people in the audience. His presentation was excellent and we have now added him to our 'must read' list.
