We woke up to sunshine this morning and decided that we would check to see if we could stay for another couple of days.  On the way to the park office I spotted a 'Canada' jacket and stopped to chat.  It turned out that both Art and Joyce were at the University of Guelph at the same time as Don.  One thing led to another and we got ourselves settled on a 'new' campsite in time for Diane to head off to the  craft group to meet some of the winter residents. She managed to tap into a group doing felted slippers so now has another project on the go!  Don decided to putter and spent the afternoon getting to know some of the guys on nearby sites.  We still don't have good internet access and Don still hasn't figured out why he can't tap into the cable for RV.  Everyone has a suggestion but he's still puzzling over this.
The park is not 'fancy' but has a friendly atmosphere and is quiet.  It also seems to have many Ontario residents.  Everyone we talked to has already booked ahead for as many years as possible and has been coming for several years.  Like us, they came to the island for a brief visit and each year return and stay a little longer.
After a quick supper, we were off to the hotel to hear a lecture on the historical economy of the Georgia coast by Buddy Sullivan, Manager of the Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve.  The lecture was followed by a sampling of  island desserts and the weekly visitors to this lecture series were quick to position themselves to get first dibs!
