Country Lanes RV Park

The past month has been a blur of medical appointments as Don dealt with some issues that have arisen since our return.  It's now time to catch our breath for a few days before we begin preparations for our upcoming winter in Calgary.  We won't be able to travel south this winter so we plan to rent a condo in Calgary for the upcoming months.

Over the past month we have discovered the joys of grand-parenting.  McKenzie has spent most weekends visiting with us and has taken easily to life in Granny and Poppa's house on wheels.  There are many grandparents in the park so there are play structures and other amenities for children who visit.  At this point the new red tricycle and the slides and swings compete for attention!

The park is larger than the one in Cochrane and, because it is a private park, contains a mix of park models, motor homes and other travel vehicles.  We find it a friendly park and a number of our friends from 'on the road' are here for the summer.  It's a great park for daily walks and the river is nearby.  At the moment the water level is in spring flood and the water is quite muddy.  A few years ago ( I think it was 2005)  this park flooded and there were a number of lots lost when the river cut a new channel.  Since then the river has the two channels for high water and the banks of the river have been reinforced to minimize the chance of extensive damage in the future.

There are a few organized activities in the park - a Wednesday night Jam session for musicians, line dancing, aqua-cise,  occasional potlucks, happy hour, crafts - the usual mix but they are not as dominant as in the parks in the south during the winter.  Here the activities compete with family time.
