We left Benson under sunny skies with scattered high clouds and found the highway was not as busy as yesterday.  The trucks must have started to travel north through Arizona once again.  After passing through the Dragoons, one of our favorite rock formations, we decided to make a stop in Willcox to see if our 'favorite' coffee shop was still there.  It was and it still serves fantastic cinnamon buns.  The owner chatted with us as we ate and gave us some of the local history.  We were shocked to learn that about 80% of the Chirucahua National Monument was burned over last spring.

We traveled east to I-25 via Hwy 26 out of Deming and missed the traffic and mountain of Las Cruces.  The skies continued to clear as the day unfolded and with the clearer skies the winds increased.  By late afternoon the winds were strong enough that driving was becoming unpleasant and so we decided to use the Walmart in Truth or Consequences for an overnight stop.  We decided that this is an area we want to revisit so didn't take time to explore - that may be a mistake!
