Where I stayed
Phoenix Metro RV Park
We have been in Phoenix for most of this week and have had a great time catching up with Ottawa-based friends and family. Suzanne, a friend from my Carleton University days, and her husband are wintering over in Surprise and we spent a delightful day checking out their home away from home and catching up on the news. It amazing how you can pick up these old friendships after a period of time and never miss a beat.
Don's sister and her husband are also spending time in a condo nearby and so we have had some great excursions with them. A trip up to the Outlets of Anthem led us to a road trip up to Wickenburg and what fun it was showing them some of our favorite haunts. Not to mention the stop for the homemade ice-cream!
The next day we checked off another of my bucket list items with a return to the Heard Museum. Several years ago we visited the museum for a special feature exhibit based on Chinese artifacts. We were unable to view the museum's own exhibitions at that time and I was quite disappointed by this. The Heard focuses on Native Artifacts and Art of the Southwest and the visit was really enjoyable. I'd highly recommend it to others visiting Phoenix.
Saturday night found us at the Marriott on Deer Valley Road and talk about an oasis in the desert! There is water everywhere! This destination resort is beautiful and the food didn't disappoint either. Thanks to Dwight and Nancy for a great shared birthday dinner.
