Hello Everyone,
Well although we have traveled through the international date line, across the equator, and overland and boat we have finally arrived on the Nananu-I-Ra Island Lodge. The plane ride was very long(11.5) hours, but I must say I like Air Newzealand! We watched few movies with complimentary drinks and snacks the whole ride, how is that for great service! We arrived in Nadi(pronounced Nan-dee), Fiji at 3:30 am on Jan 25(we left at 12pm on Jan 23...Crazy)! We gathered our packs and headed straight to the nearest couch, and rested till our shuttle arrived around 5 am. We headed in to down town Nadi with a gorgeous sunset rising in the background. Then loaded into the shuttle bus headed toward Ellinton Wharf to catch our boat to the Island. The 2 hour (bumpy) ride thought the main island of Vita Letu was very cool and really showed a side to the people and lives of the Fijian's. We saw all the school children headed off to the "Colleges" in their matching villages's uniforms. Some of the girls in green dress with white bows in their hairs and the boys with green shirts and shulas (Skirts or Saragons), and tons of color variations along the way. People waived and shouted Bulla (hello in Fiji) and we were so excited to finally be in Fiji!! We arrived at Ellington Wharf, which was not so much of a wharf, but more of a boat ramp. But is had a little waiting spot and cold drinks, and of course great views of the Islands. We arrived at Nanura Island Lodge around 11:30 and it was great! Free Kayaks, free snorkeling equip, and a beach front room! Tons of palm trees and hammocks.....Paradise. We spent the first day sleeping of the jet lag and lack of sleep, and then spend the next day laying on a hammock and kayaking over the wonderful coral reefs. The people are great and the atmosphere is amazing! It was Australlia Day yesterday and there was a cricket game and a traditional Kava Ceremony (tastes like wood tea). We have to sign off now, but know that we have figured out the Internet we will right again and with more pictures. We miss you all and We will be in touch soon.
All our Love,
Molly and Conor
Getting tanner by the day.....

Googly bowling
hear that you have survived prolonged confinement in an aluminum tube and severe jet lag. The proper treatment for this condition is swaying gently in a hammock and watching coconuts grow. CPM may recall his cricket experiences in Wheatley, but just to show the crowd that you are with it, toss out phrases like 'that bowler throws a great googly ball', 'jolly good show', and similar Britishisms. Have a great time, and remember my motto (Dolce far niente---It is sweet to do nothing). o do nothing).

Man that sounds good
Jealous you guys. Sounds great. Travel, with all of its ups and downs, is the best. Can't think of anything better than sitting in a hammock resting after a paddle through crystal clear waters. That is living. Drink one for all of us desk jockey suckers!

Hey, I've been there!
SOOO jealous of you guys. I stayed on Nananu I Ra back in the day. I stayed at the super tiny, and totally remote on an already remote island, Kontiki Resort (Not related to the travel company). I think it was on the southwest and if I recall, you are perhaps more southeast? Anyway, amazing place. The Fijians are great people and Fiji time is a great way to learn how to SLOW down... Enjoy!

News from soggy western Washington
I talked to my colleague, Rahul Kuver, who was raised in Fiji until he was 10. Says you should not miss visiting koros, experiencing the 3 clap ceremony, and imbibing yaqoga. If you are able to scuba, he suggests Taveuni island, city of Sabu Sabu where a son of Jacques Cousteau runs a place. Also talked to a friend visiting from Sydney, who suggests that you stay in Byron Bay, just south of the Queensland border. He thinks it is one of the most beautiful beach area in Australia, but still undiscovered and cheap. Mom looked it up on the web--looks great. What is happening to the flow? Let me know, as I can line up something in New Zealand. Mom and Dad
