Well, I arrived at staging in Miami just fine yesterday afternoon (though an hour late) but I have had the Will Smith "Miami" song in my head for over 48 hours - it's great! I have been in meetings for the last two days (its alot of "group work" and "group discussion" exercises that are pretty tedious, but I guess necessary). The people in my training group are REALLY cool. We all seem to get along really well, and everyone feeds off of each other's excitement. The breakdown of the group is 7 girls and 3 boys (a little uneven, eh?) and THREE of us are from UVA (we all know cindy and me, but one of the boys was a civil engineer there and graduated with us - weird!) We all went out to dinner at a Thai restaurant last night and had a great time. Tonight, the plan is to go to a Haitian restaurant in South Beach with the two people leading our staging session. Tomorrow we leave for Haiti and we are officially Peace Corps Trainees! It seems that we get alot of special attention once we arrive in Port-au-Prince - VIP room at the airport, meetings with embassy officials, etc. We are such superstars. Well, I hope to be able to post some pictures of our group soon. From what I understand, we will all be living very close to each other in our training town of Kenscoff so I should be able to get one with all of us in it. Even though it seems like a small group, here's a reference point for what Peace Corps Haiti has been like recently: The last training group came last August and had only three people in it. One person left after a few days and another left after a few weeks. Long story short, only one person in that group became an official PC Volunteer in Feb. SO, I hope our group has better luck! I miss all of you guys so much and I want to thank you SO MUCH for all of your support. I have the best friends and family in the world!*
Love, Molly
