Happy Deepavali everyone!
Since Malaysia is such a culturally diverse country they get holidays from three different religions. Deepavali is an Indian festival of lights. Just my luck I got to spend it in a village with Muslim people on holidays. So no Indian celebrations for me.....
Cerating is a small beach front village with resorts and inns and guest houses, and most of them have cottages. I spent a night in one. It wasn't facing the beach (those are more expensive and I'm saving money for a nicer beach...) but it had a nice and friendly owner, who got to know more of the European geography by finding out there's Slovenia somewhere in Europe and where it is... (well, I'd like to think I made it clear to him... :))
I spent both my days on the beach, reading my book (I've got a mystery book now, and must say I'm afraid of reading at night...). I ate prawns and fish and they were fresh from the sea and very good, made with sambal, a spicy sauce made of chili and garlic.
There was a nice lady in Cerating who owns an internet and souvenirs shop, book shop and sells bus tickets. She's really helpful and nice. I would recommend anyone to turn to her for the information.
