Before heading to the lake yesterday, JP took us on a drive through a few towns in the area. We picked some lavender from the yard and stuck it in the car vents to provide a natural air freshener as we drove. First stop was Salles la Source, a tiny village centred around a small church that reminded me of my Mom's hometown of Ferland, Saskatchewan. There is a pretty little waterfall there where droplets of water shimmer and sparkle in the sunshine.

Next was Marcillac, then Conques, the best known town in the area, mainly because of the many Catholic pilgrims who visit enroute to Santiago de Campostela. Of course, there is another grand cathedral, which although large, derives its beauty more from its simplicity and scale than any ornate design. JP acted as our "super guide" (pronounced with French accent), taking us to all of the best viewpoints in and around town.

At the lake later, we met JP's parents, his brother and family, and finally his youngest son.  There was a round of kissing, some aperitifs outside in the sun, and then some delicious crepes made by Laurence for dinner. They were equally tasty with Nutella, sugar & lemon, or raspberry jam. We came back to the house to sleep last night, but we'll go back to the lake today for boating, swimming and relaxing. C'est difficile, mais c'est la vie!
