WARNING: blog entry is for food and drink snobs only!

At the end of our three week Burmese adventure we left Yangon on an early morning flight to Bangkok where we stayed for one night before boarding another flight to Hanoi in Vietnam. Seeing as we were in three great culinary capitals of Asia we decided to make the most of it and indulge in the finest of Asian cuisine! So for readers of a culinary persuasion feast your eyes on this...

Monsoon in Rangoon

Shan Ginger salad with pickled and fresh ginger, sesame seeds, peanuts, coriander and chilli
Myanmar grilled aubergine salad
Cambodian braised and pounded catfish with pea aubergine and shallots
Braised aubergine in thick gravy
Cocktails: Gin & Tonic, Gin Sour, Lemongrass Martini, Bagan Banane (rum, lime, banana and crème de banana), Blue Margarita and Frozen Margarita

Mango tree in Bangkok

Miang Kham ( Crispy coconut, savoury herbs with green bitter leaves and tamarind sauce )
Yum Som-O ( Pomelo salad with shrimps )
Yellow curry with chicken and onion.
Pad Thai with prawns
Rich red vegetable curry

Highway 4 in Hanoi

Seabass grilled with ginger and fermented rice
Crispy fish sautéed in passionfruit sauce
Catfish spring rolls
Spicy and sour mango salad
Fried rice with sauerkraut

The restaurant specialises in Son Tinh liqueurs which are made from distilled rice. We tried the fruit basket, a selection of four fruit liqueurs – rose apple, red plum, apricot and passion fruit. Delicious!
