While most people think of Cabo San Lucas as "Cabo", in actuality Cabo San Lucas is only the western end of a 20 mile long resort strip collectively marketed as "Los Cabos". At the eastern end of the strip lies San Jose del Cabo, also dominated by a strip of big seaside resort hotels and their affluent North American inhabitants. But San Jose was a town before there were resorts, and it has pretty historic center filled with overpriced restaurants, touristy boutiques, and a bona fide art gallery district. Like most Baja towns Sand Jose has a pretty church on its central square dating from the era when the Spanish established a mission there.
