REASONABLY LATE START FOR US TODAY WITH AN 8:45AM BUS PICK UP AT ESTACADA HIGH FOR A TRIP TO THE SNOW AT MOUNT HOOD.

EVERYONE ON THE BUS WAS EXCITED WITH MANY OF THE CREW NEVER HAVING SEEN SNOW "LIVE". AS WE PROGRESSED UP THE MOUNTAIN THE ANTICIPATION BUILT AS MORE AND MORE SNOW APPEARED BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FROM THE PREVIOUS NIGHTS FALL.

WHEN WE ARRIVED THE SCENERY WAS SPECTACULAR WITH SLOPING HILLS COVERED IN PRISTINE SNOW, AND WE WERE ADVISED TO WRAP UP AS BEST WE COULD. MANY HAD BEEN LENT SNOW GEAR BY THEIR BILLETS, SO THERE WAS A MAD SCRAMBLE TO PUT ON SNOW PANTS, BEANIES, SNOW BOOTS, SCARFES, GLOVES, JACKETS ETC.

A BIG THANK YOU TO DANA WHO PROVIDED SOME HAND WARMERS (INGENIOUS LITTLE BAGS WHICH YOU SHAKE AND THEY HEAT UP AND STAY WARM FOR THE ENTIRE DAY), WHICH ARE SIMILAR TO THE FREEZE BAGS WE GET AT HOME (FOR SPORTS INJURIES) EXCEPT OF COURSE THESE ONES GO HOT NOT COLD.

ON DISEMBARKING WE MADE THE SHORT WALK TO THE TUBING SLOPE AND QUICKLY VENTURED (BY THE AUTOMATIC DRAG) TO THE TOP WHERE EVERYONE QUICKLY GOT INTO STRIDE AND WENT FLYING DOWN THE SLOPE. LOTS OF FUN WAS HAD WITH RACES APLENTY. MELI EVEN HAD A GO AND ENJOYED THE EXPERIENCE.

AFTER SOME TIME ON THE "INTRODUCTORY" SLOPE WE WERE ALLOWED ONTO THE NEXT ONE WHICH ALSO PROVED POPULAR.

SNOWBALLS WERE ALSO VERY POPULAR WITH DARREN (NOEL) A FAVOURITE TARGET.

THERE WAS ALSO A VERY NICE SKI LODGE WHICH ALLOWED SOME RESPITE FROM THE COOL WET CONDITIONS, WITH PLENTY OF HOT FOOD AVAILABLE AND A ROARING FIRE.

WE EVEN HAD SOME SNOW WHICH GAVE US A CHANCE TO TAKE SOME VERY NICE PICTURES. THERE WERE PLENTY TAKEN (I HAVE PUT SOME SAMPLES UP), BUT THERE ARE MANY MORE FROM EVERYONE WHO ATTENDED.

THE TRIP BACK WAS VERY QUIET WITH MANY TAKING THE CHANCE TO GRAB A SHORT NAP.

WHEN WE GOT BACK TO ESTACADA WE WERE INVITED TO A "POT LUCK" DINNER, WHICH INVOLVED EVERYONE FROM THEIR BASKETBALL TEAMS BRINGING A DISH FOR TEA. THERE WERE PASTAS, CHICKEN, SALADS, CURRIES, AND MANY DISHES THAT I DID NOT RECOGNISE, BUT AM TOLD THEY WERE DELICIOUS. THERE WERE PLENTY OF DESERTS ALSO, SOME REAL COUNTRY COOKING WHICH WAS MUCH APPRECIATED.

WE THEN WATCHED THE ESTACADA JUNIOR VARSITY AND VARSITY BOYS PLAY A TEAM FROM "SEASIDE". GIVEN WE WERE NOW BARRACKING FOR ESTACADA IT WAS DISAPPOINTING THAT THEY LOST THE MAIN GAME, BUT DID MANAGE TO WIN THE FIRST.

THE KIDS HAVE A DAY WITH THEIR BILLETS TOMORROW AT SCHOOL BEFORE VENTURING TO JESUIT (BACK TOWARDS PORTLAND) FOR GAMES COMMENCING AT 4:30PM.

ANOTHER GOOD DAY, WITH PLENTY MORE TO COME.

Looks like you all had lots of fun. Great photos. Thanks for your update. We have 32 degrees in the morning with stormy winds and torrential rain in the afternoon. I think I would rather have snow!

Great stuff! Thanks for all the regular updates and a special thanks to all the billet families for their generosity to our happy travellers.
