Breakfast in Brno at the hotel was a nice surprise, with breads, yogurt eggs and bacon in addition to the standard sliced meats and cheese.  Off we trekked back to the bus station to catch a bus to Telc.
Telc is a small town surrounded on 3 sides by lakes.  So very charming and lovely.  It just felt so much more relaxed.   We found our pension, but as it was locked, we stood dumbly outside not quite sure how to proceed.  A store owner pointed us to the bike shop next door- I guess the family owns both.
We entered the hotel and it too was lovely and charming (I think thats Telc's schtick).  airy, plants and orchids all over, skylights everywhere.  We have an en suite room *overlooking a lake* that opened up to a shared living/dining area.  As there was no one else there, we had a suite all to ourselves!
Our pension was right on the square- all the buildings with historical facades and arcade walkways, each painted a different color.  Oh and of course the square studded w/ the obligatory 1717 fountain.
We adopted the town's pace and first sat down to a leisurely lunch on the square; enjoying traditional czech food beer & moravian wine.  I particularly enjoyed the 15 crown wine (vs. a 30 crown coke or spite option).
After lunch we strolled across the square to the Water Chateau.  There were two tour options A & B to see different parts of the Chateau.  No more in English so we tagged along a tour in Czech, reading our own english binders provided.  We had to guesstimate what each paragraph was referring to, as the guide didnt tell us and there was no signage.
Afterwards I went back to the info desk to find out how to see the gardens.  All the Czech attendant would do would be point at the A & B options and I would keep repeating garden?  How can I see the garden?  In response she would point more vigourously at the A & B optoins and then signal to shoo me away.
She was so frustrated she finally escorted me out and dumped me unceremoniously at the garden entrance.  She had been trying to say- 'hey dummy- go look at the gardens. its open.  As you can see neither A nor B include it as part of a paid tour'.  oops.
We wandered around town, in and out of antique shops, walked through the historic gates and over the narrow bridge, admiring the lakes over a street vendor ice cream cone.
We accidently went to a czech chain restaurant for dinner. It was pretty awful.  Only bad meal of the whole trip though- so cant really complain.
