Where I stayed
We set up our tent and had a great fire in our firepit, ate subway sandwiches, made several cell phone calls and then watched part of a movie on our computer before falling asleep. Just like Mark Twain's Roughing it!. Next day, we visited Point Lobos which my other brother Ronn and shown me the year before. We then headed for San Francisco. We lucked out and it was very clear out so for the first time in her life, Quinci got to see the Golden Gate Bridge without clouds or fog.....and it was spectacular
Then it was time to get to wine country. We decided to stay there for a few days so settled in at a nice downtown motel in Sonoma. There is a old town square nearby with good eateries so we had pizza and local beer...Then it was time for a hot tub and some wine. We carried our glasses downstairs and sat in the tub with some southern women who were on a long trip in a van that held 11 of them (yikes). As we went to breakfast the next morning, Quinci pointed out that there seemed to be a trail of red wine on the walkways and she thought it must have been left by me.....ha, me spill wine-never. Must be some other cltutz though yes though I was drinking red Zin.
Next day, we started our wine walk that we had read about in Budget Travel (thanks Ronn). We did it mostly in reverse of the map but got to 3 wineries and I think around 5 miles. Ravenwood, Buena Vista and Sabastiani-all good wine and a fun but tiring walk. Good meal at a brewery called Hopmonk started by a Monk who liked hoppy beer----no, I made that part up and have no idea why they call it that. Time to hurry back to our room so we don't miss any of the endless hours of the royal wedding.....oh, a big NOT! We needed sleep so we could continue our winery touring the next day. I woke up at 3am to Quinci watching the wedding.....crap.
