Another early morning start because the trip from Montreal to Toronto is a a long way – we stopped on the way in Ottawa which is the capital city of Canada. The weather is getting warmer as we move south which is really nice. Although the Canadian Parliament building was only built in the 1980's the architecture is called “modern Gothic” so it looks old, which seems to be a common theme in the grand public buildings in Canada.

 We've been following the St Lawrence River which is massive in comparison to Australian rivers. The river flows just behind the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa. After a short stop in Ottawa we continued our trip stopping about 1 ½ hrs later at a place on the St Lawrence River known as “1000 Islands” - there are thousands of islands in the St Lawrence River that vary in size and are very popular vacation spots for wealthy Canadians and Americans to build holiday homes. Some of the islands were tiny, but every one that could held some sort of house or cabin. It was a very scenic area – but also very exclusive! (It's rumoured that 1000 Island salad dressing was created there!”)
