This day was a long day of travelling – about 700km. Max was more interested in visiting the Canadian cities than I was, but the history and architecture are very interesting none the less. I hadn't realized that Canada was actually settled earlier than the US. Quebec is in French Canada, so not being able to understand any of the signs or menus has been a little disconcerting. We arrived in Quebec late in the day and got settled at our hotel. We were delighted to find that we had been given a deluxe suite with a king sized bed and jacuzzi! Unfortunately we didn't have much time to enjoy it because we had to leave after an hour for our evening meal and entertainment. We went to a place where maple syrup was made and were entertained by folk music and had a chance to participate in some folk dancing. (Of course, Max was up for that!)

The tour we have booked is with an American company called ATI that specializes in tours for foreign tourists. It was a reasonably budget priced tour that covers transportation & accommodation and some tour commentary. Meals are at our own expense, but there are often “add on” mini tours that include a meal. I think it works out well because it gives you a choice. As mentioned before, most of the others on the tour are Australians with a couple of Americans (friends or relatives of Australians who booked the tour) and a few Brits. Almost everyone is around our age and seem easy to get along with, so the company is pleasant. Our tour guide is originally from Belgium but lives permanently in the US with her Australian husband – she speaks 5 languages, which I'm sure is an advantage for a tour guide!

We'd like to write more, but we often are not getting back to our hotel room until 10:30pm and then need to be up and out by about 7am in the morning, so we only have time to write the "Readers Digest" version of events!  Sometimes in the mornings here (8-9pm Adl time) and in the evenings (12-1pm Adl time) we are available for very short conversations on Skype - our ID is: mnkschultz if you'd like to try contacting us.

It's another late night, so we'll try to write more soon.  We miss you all!
