We always knew that this trip could not really be planned ahead because my parent's health has not been good in recent months. In fact, that's why we planned this trip - firstly, to help them as much as possible and then, if time, to enjoy some touring of the U.S.
Max and I arrived on Monday and went straight to the hospital to see my mother. On Wednesday she came home by ambulance to be cared for by the family with the help of visiting hospice staff. Both my sisters are here, as well as my 24 year old neice and her husband. We are working in informal "shifts" to be available if she needs anything. I think we all feel that it's a privilege to take care of her needs as she transitions from this life to the next.
There has been a constant stream of friends and neighbors coming to say hello... and good-bye - accompanied by both tears and laughter as stories are shared. It's been a precious "family" time.
So, we are just taking one day at a time....

Frank shared on Sunday about Liz's passing. I really felt for you Kathy in your loss yet I also thanked the Lord for enabling you and Max to be there with the family at this time and so be part of the care group for your Mum. God is good.
