After a 4 hour flight, we arrived at the Liberia International Airport. Wow!!! It is not very big. Really just one larger room / terminal. Customs was easy and our driver Oscar was waiting for us. It all went so smoothly we couldn't believe it. Everybody was tired, but we faced a 3+ hour drive to Arenal. It was great to see Costa Rica from the air, and it was great to finally make it after all of the planning.
Liberia was a fairly large town, but we did not spend any time in the city. Some how we got all of our luggage into Oscar's van. There was plenty of room for everyone, and we were very glad the van had such good air conditioning.
Little did we know that the McDonalds that we saw in Liberia would be the only one we saw on our whole trip.
On our trip to Arenal from Liberia we saw the biggest Guanacaste Tree we would see on our whole trip. I didn't take a picture of it becasue I wasn't thinking about it, but the tree was quite impressive.
