On 2 July 2011 begins a German Celebration that is centers in Bingen/Rüdesheim area along the Rhine River to celebrate the "Rhine in Flames".  We took a cruise from Biebriech Germany (just 10 minute drive from our home) then rode the ship downstream while we had a nice dinner and met some new friends.  By around 11 pm we (along with over 40 other ships) paraded back north from just a bit south of Bingen to see the 'fiery' burst of fireworks as we passed each town on the Rhine.  The evening was spectacular and we had a wonderful time viewing the fireworks and each castle being illuminated one-by-one as we passed them by.  The castles looked like they floated in the sky - since they are on cliff sides following the miles and miles (or shall I say kilometers and kilometers) of vineyards in the Rüdesheim (white wine) birthplace of German specialty wines. The Castles were lighted up with red flares as if camp fires lit them up in the night. You can see the crowds line up on the shoreline to see the show.  An incredible sight - difficult to capture with my pocket camera.  I hope you enjoy these pics. Thanks MNA.
