After numerous going away parties and farewells of different sizes, flavors and the like I finally left little old Adelaide for the greener (very green) pastures Fiji. The flight was uneventful to say the least, there is only so much ocean you can take when you are desperately looking forward to seeing your new home. We touched down around 8pm (real time, see later references to Pacific Time) and took taxis to our hotel in central Suva, where we unpacked our bags as best we could, headed to the rooftop bar to scope out the place and grab a drop of the local Fiji Bitter. For those of you planning a trip its not a bad drop either, and cheap "like the budgie" for only $1.80FJ for a stubbie or 2.70 for a longneck *waves to Neil* a lover of bargain priced beers.

The next mission was food, which sadly ended up being KFC, its sad with so many wicked curries etc around our local guide Anna insisted we go to KFC!!! That and McDonalds are the most popular restaurants (I use the term loosely) in town. Blerk! My first impressions of this place is that its friendly but there is certainly a dark undertone, Suva is probably much safer than Adelaide it's just a new place that comes with its own set of rules. Then again that dark undertone could just be the built up grime that seems to be on just about everything, from all the buildings to the cars and everything in between.
