So we haven't had wifi for a few days, so this post will be a mishmash of what I can remember of the past few days! We travelled for nine hours back down to Negombo from Jaffna in a mosquito infected van, I am now totally covered in bites they're incredibly itchy, sore, annoying, red, horrible, cry cry cry.

The day after we arrived in Negombo, we went to this hotel where we paid to use the pool, it was luxurious compared to the guesthouse we had been used to staying in, we paid almost 3000 rupis for lunch but omg it was so worth it, the food was suuuuch a welcome change from CURRY (I never want to eat another ever again ever ever ever ever ever) although... We are having it for tea tonight. Yum.

Anyway, in all my infinite wisdom, I thought the sun might help my mosquito bites, and on the plus side I can't feel them anymore, on the down side it is because my whole body is sunburnt (whoopsies, soz gran). This girl is on fiyaaaaa!

In our sunburnt state (Emily's was worse than mine!) we had to travel down to Galle, squished into a van that was too small! We thought the journey was one hour long but turned out to be three or four hours long! We didn't arrive until midnight so we met the mother and father of the family we are staying with but the little girl was fast asleep!

In the morning when we got up she had already gone to school! She goes from 7 and stayed until 4 today! And has been working right up until now when I am writing this (9pm!) Crazy kid, this heat is unreal! On the plus side our sunburn had calmed down a bit when we got up, so that was cool beans. We went to the biggest school in South Asia today, which has 7000 girls attending! The difference was so clear compared with the school I was teaching in in the north, they are far better off and their English is also much better!

Tomorrow is our first day at the orphanage! We will be working in a baby and toddler unit (David get the nursery ready! Ps I'm just kidding (kinda) don't stress mum!)

There are other units attached to the department of probation where the orphanage is situated,so we might get the chance to do some work there too!
