Where I stayed
After a night ferry ride into Helsinki we arrived at 9.55am. We departed the ferry and headed for the bus. Our tour guide was ready and waiting to give us a guided tour of the city.
Helsinki is nice but does not stand out in the mind like Stockholm that was simply stunning.
We were taken around the sights of the city including the church in the rock, the sculpture to the famous composer and some parts of central Helsinki.
We were taken down to the markets and set free to shop. The markets were alright and has some nice fruit and veg and lots of souvenir stalls. The shops tended to be expensive with lots of fashion and touristy type things.
We wandered and looked but refrained from any serious shopping at the stage.
We were picked up in the main square by the bus and headed to the hotel. We checked out the room and en headed up the street to checkout the shopping. A few hours later we mad dour way back to relax before going out for a traditional Russian dinner. Yes sounds odd for that in Finland but Finland was for a short time ruled by Russia and there are still many great Russian places in the ci and we were off to one.
Dinner consisted of Borsht, stroganoff and baked Alaska. It was lovely and the little place we ate at was wonderful.
Off into the Russina hinterland tomorrow. Night all.
