What I did
Today will be my last time waking up in my luxurious suite. Although we still have tommorow, we will be on an early flight by this time. Today we are going to Mount Fuji. We have arranged a tour to see all of the mountain and much more. It cost $1,688 for the whole day, but it is worth it.
At 9:00am our private car and driver came to our hotel to pick us up. We were dressed in our warmest clothes and ready to roll! We then travel through towns and places on an express train. we got to see lots of architecture (the old houses and buildings) our tour guide also taught us a lot about Japanese culture and other facts.
After that, we arrived at Mt. Fuji's fifth station, it was 2,305m above ground. That was the highest place to have the car. We enjoyed looking at all the plants and trees as well.
We then took the Aerial Cableway to Owakudani in Hakone. From the cableway, Lake Ashi, the Hakone mountain ranges, and Mt. Fuji can be seen on a clear day. We could see fumes coming out from the sides of some of the mountains. After that, we went on a boat cruise on Lake Ashi in Hakone. We enjoyed fabulous lake scenery including the unique Hakone Shrine Torii gate standing in the water.
While on the water, we were suprised with some beautiful Japanese cuisine that was part of the tour. This was our lunch. After this massive tour we were taken home in our car. By this stage, we packed up most of our things and got ready to leave home for a 12:30am flight.
We went down to the lobby lounge for afternoon tea at 5:30pm. We had home-made oven-baked scones in a variety of seasonal flavors, and clotted cream, strawberry jam, home-made curd and honey, assortment of seasonal afternoon tea pastries and a selection of classic afternoon tea sandwiches, all for $13.40 (per person).
That night we got ready to head out to the airport and return home!
*Note- All money has been converted from Japanese Yen to Australian Dollar
