Day 01:
Today Mum, Dad, Lachie and I are setting off on our great adventure. Imogen is staying behind because of her tests. We traveled from Perth to Singapore where we spent two days. From there we traveled to Mumbai where our adventure really began.
I just arrived in Mumbai, India and I believe it is one of the most beautiful and muggy cities I have seen. I traveled with Singapore Airlines and arrived in Mumbai at 11:05am. It took about an hour to pass through customs and security with Mum, Dad and Lachie. From the airport we traveled by taxi to The Oberoi, Mumbai; the taxi ride was the scariest in my life as traffic rules are virtually nonexistent over here. The ride cost 401 Indian Rupees or AUD $8.20 which was 24.1km long, arriving there at 12:42pm. We have booked two hotel rooms for one night: a king suite, (INR 22 500 AUD $461.65) and a double, (INR 20 000 AUD $410) which all together cost INR 42 500 or AUD $871.65. Mum and dad went and had a spa treatment at the Oberoi which cost 14 000 INR or AUD $284. After they had finished their relaxing massage and facials we took a taxi to Bassein Fort. The ride took one and a half hours and cost INR 1 295 or AUD $26.55. We arrived there at 4:10pm. During the ride we passed many markets and then traveled along a small road with many people begging. The fort is located in Vasai, Maharashtra. With its high arches and spectacular architecture, the Bassein Fort is a gorgeous destination for any avid holiday-er. Built in the 1400s by the Portugese mariners, the fort is often used as a setting in many Bollywood movies. After the taxi home we ordered dinner and went to bed.
Hope to keep in touch,
Abby.
