A 3hr hop on Asia Pacific delivered us in questionable style to Nadi in Fiji. How can first impressions of Fiji not be pretty special when every visitor is serenaded into the country by a quartet in the arrivals lounge? From then on it just got better, we had pre-booked a pretty bottom-end backpackers hotel which turned out to be great fun. Cheap beer to accompany the mildly entertaining traditional Fijian welcome by way of a fire dance, made our first night in Fiji one to remember. The resort also had its own travel agency so we booked a 7 day excursion to the Yasawas Islands. The Yasawas are a chain of 20 ancient islands famous for the crystal blue lagoons, rugged volcanic landscape and boast some of the best beaches in the Pacific Islands. Most famous of all the Islands is Blue Lagoon, where the film 'Blue lagoon back in the 1980's was filmed. With so much to see, we decided that we would island hop, and picked three islands all with different features. We were warned that much of the accommodation had been damaged by the recent cyclone and all the villages were slowly rebuilding, but that most definitely did not stop us looking forward to the trip.

Looking forward to your WOW!! photos of the islands and beaches.!!! It's grey rainy and freezing here!!!
Yeah, you'll like it there. Been there a couple of times myself. Only joking. The furthest east I've ever been is Skegness! Sounds brill. Keep the photos coming. They brighten up a dreary Feb here on't moors.
Are you even east any more? At what point do you become west?
As we are sat at 177 east we never quite made it fully east on land. On the island of Taveuni off the eastcoast of Fiji it is half east and half west. It is quite a tourist attraction here to have one foot in each time zone physically seperated by 1 metre.
We do know that we leave Fiji at 9pm, do an 8 hour flight and still manage to arrive in Hawaii at 7am the same day.
I'm looking forward to the photos too, keep them coming.
