We stayed at a Department of Conservation (DOC) campsite where payment was by an honesty box. For our £6 we had the most amazing night sky view, more stars than you could ever imagine. In the morning we did our first official New Zealand Tramp (Trekking). I am not sure that 54 minutes for a 4.2 Km course will break any records, but all the signs said over 2 hours to complete, so maybe not that bad after all.  Not convinced the near vertical inclines and 7 river crossings was a true reflection of the DOC grading "Gentle Walk".

After a wash in the river, and out of a bucket in K's case, we had a fantastic drive to and lunch at Lake Tikapo.
