After a cold rainy night we pootled south stopping at various towns to purchase blankets, and other deluxe items our 'bodge it and scarper' campervan company did not supply. M purchased a new second hand fishing rod, while K poked around the Ashford spinning wheel factory. Highlight was the flooded Rakaia River and news that we should proceed with caution due to the many road closures and demolished bridges due to heavy flooding.
