One can never visit Oz without a trip to the Great Barrier Reef. Having had a bit of a lazy week we made an early start to Cairns Marina and caught Reef Magic out to the Marine World Pontoon on the outer Great Barrier Reef.

The Great Barrier Reef is not one continuous reef, but made up of over 2900 reefs and 900 islands. and home to 450 types of corals, 1500 types of fish and 4000 types of molluscs. It is the largest reef structure and Marine Park in the world, so large that it is visible from the moon and astronauts have described it as "a thin white line off the east coast of Australia".

An after an hour flight by a fast catamaran we spent the day doing Semi-Submersible & Glass Bottom Boat Tours, snorkeling and lazing on the deck. Wally, a Napoleon Maori Wrasse stole the show. He was a metre long and weighed 40 – 50 Kilos, he was so tame you could swim down and pet him.

Finished up a great day by at last seeing Skyfall at the cinema.
