*sigh* I have discovered paradise. The last three days have been without a doubt the best three days of the trip thus far (yes sarah, i am holding my breath for Olympos..) I hopped on the ferry early Tuesday morning and headed to Ischia, an island just an hour from Sorrento. Finding my hostel was a slight challenge, but after walking some tiny streets, trying to communicate with the locals, I eventually found it and immediately fell in love. The hostel is like a dream. Every night the staff (two hilarious italian guys and two girls from canada and the states) piles everyone from the hostel into this funny red van and drives us to the family run restaurant, where the mum cooked us amazing italian food in a beautiful setting. After dinner they then take us all out, one night to a bar, one night just to the beach. Incredible. My one full day there I spent with another girl, Erin, (also from the OC - they're everywhere!) and we went to one of the many thermal bath parks. Good god, why don't we have this at home. It's like a water park without the kids and slides...just different types of pools and therapeutic baths and waterfalls and a beach...all surrounded by beautiful gardens and a huge cliff. Unreal - the island is famous for their hot springs and thermal waters that are supposed to be healing, and I believe it. I havn't felt that great in a while...a vacation within a vacation. So all in all I could have stayed in Ischia for a long while. I loved the people, the hostel, the scenery, the lifestyle...it was fantastic and the first place I've genuinely been sad to leave. But Greece is calling my name and tomorrow I make the long trek to Athens, which I'll be reaching Saturday afternoon!
Keep sending the messages!
