Hello all, I've finally accepted the fact we are back.................................but for how long ?
It has been a while since last blogging and seems an age since we were travelling round in Banksy.

After finding out that the car ferry from Norway to the UK stops at the end of August we decided to do a mini tour of northern Finland and Norway and then head home through Sweden. The tour went through the wonderful ski town Levi where we stayed in a lovely log cabin. Cooking makkara (sausage) on an open fire has become a past time of mine when in Finland and the open fire in the cabin was perfect. The next day we headed to Kilpisjärvi and stayed in yet another wonderful log cabin enjoying the peace and stillness of this mountainous region. The following day we done a day trek up Saana, and enjoyed the wonderful views of the surrounding lakes and mountains. Saana is a mountain in the north west of Finland on the border of Norway and Sweden. Next day was a short but sweet visit to expensive Norway. The views while driving through Norway are spectacular. The mountains are big with year round snow on the peaks with waterfalls every so often falling down into the fjords. It wasn't long before we were crossing the guardless border back into Finland but this time down the north east side where we stayed at Saariselkä for a couple of days in a wonderful apartment. It was here that we done a 12km walk over the fells, through the woods and along the river...........a perfect way to end our northern tour.

We only spent a couple of days with Marjas parents before starting the long journey back to the UK (Marja is now home sick after spending so much time with family). When we left we had a quick visit in Rovaniemi (Finland) to see friends and a quick photo stop in the arctic circle before driving the length of Sweden in two days...............only stopping to eat and sleep.

The next few days after have all become a bit of a blur because we were travelling through the countries quite quickly. Denmark, Germany, Holland, Belgium and France came and went in six days but we did cram in as many sites as possible. The gorgeous Bremen, buzzing Amsterdam, Leiden, Deft, Gent and Brugge were wonderful especially Deft and Gent. We even had time to cycle round the canals in a couple of these places. The same day we were in Brugge was also the same day we arrived back in Atherstone. This was a long day in the van and went smoothly considering the tunnel was on fire that night and the traffic was building up on both sides of the channel.

Well that was our 18,500 km amazing European van tour in six months ........................ worth every penny spent, especially Banksy. We only bought him four weeks before leaving and paid £950, he has been tremendous and is now part of the family.

I've been thinking, 18,500 km in a single direction could get you over a third of the way around the earth ..........!!!!!!!!!!!
