Well it was pizza and real Italian ice-cream all the way through Italy...as the saying goes "begin as you mean."
After some lovely home cooked food in Rivoli and a proper bed in a nice hotel we headed to Moneglia in the Italian Riviera, lovely drive there but busy due to a bank holiday weekend. We spent a day on the beach as we are travelling around Mediterranean and unbeliavable it was only our second time on a beach.
Next it was a 20 km bike ride to lovely Lucca and we especially enjoyed riding round the old town as cars and mopeds are not allowed to enter....
The next couple of days were spent in Florence with a flying visit to see a tower built by a dodgy builder in Pisa. Florence is wonderful and after spending a long day sightseeing we ended up in an old church listening the Florence Symphony Orchestra which sounded superb in the church hall.
We then had a flying visits to Bologne, Montova and Verona before heading to Venice. What an unreal place!
We spent the day there getting lost in this charming and surreal city and with so many canals it wasn't even worth trying to navigate using the tourist map.
Italy was short 'n' fast but worth it to see friends, eat tasty food and enjoy some fantastic cities.
Slovenia on the other hand is so far much more peaceful and has been a welcome break.
The last week have been spent in the magnificent Triglavski National park. We have hiked up to 2000 mts to Mount Krn, walked along the beautiful emerald green Soča river and cycled in the Soča valley admiring the wonderful snowcapped mountains.
Banksy running great ( only lost a wheel trim so far on the bumby roads in italy). Still not missing tv, but I'm missing a real bed now. This is probably because of the wonderful spa treat last night.
ps. I'm devastated at the position of Blues in the Premiership
