The first stop today was to drive into Kalbarri National Park and go right into its heart to see thr 400 million year old rocks, coastal cliffs and its river gorges.

The first gorge of the day we went to visit was the Z bend gorge which was quite funny to say as the two Yanks didn't understand what the tour guide was saying when he said 'Z' pronounced Zed rather than Zee.

The Z Bend was a gorgeous view from the lookout which showed a vast array of the sandstone to build the layers of the National Park. We went down the gorge and climbed over the rocks to then be offered the chance to abseil down a cliff in the gorge which of course I took the opportunity to do even though it did look a bit scary and we got two chances to do this for $30 so it was a steal to do it for this. Knowing that I won't be doing this on the east coast was the other reason I did it now.

At first it took a while to understand the connection of how to move and loosening the grip on the left hand so the first drop was a bit sketchy but good for practice as the second was a lot easier to do and abseil down properly and even take in the views and pose for pictures properly. Terry the tour guide also thought it was funny to spin me around from the bottom 20ft off ground level.

After the abseiling we continued our bushwalk and climbed a few more rocks until we got into an area that was safe to swim. Even though it was quite warm outside the water was bloody cold and although  know the best way is to just jumped in it took about 5 minutes before I was actually in the lake.

We then headed to Hawks Head in the NP to have our picnic lunch where we could have another POV on the gorges that we swan in earlier.
