Paddington Market is a local Market selling quite standard things. The reason it has it's entry is to warn others that unless you enjoy markets don't go out of your way to go. I love markets but was not very impressed as it only took about 15 mins to see it all. This seems to feature in a lot of guide books but unfortunately is quite disappointing.
The highlight was actually a vintage/retro at the Fringe bar Where it was quite tempting to buy a few bags, jewellery and shoes...I managed to resist temptation mostly and only parted with $2 for a bracelet.
A little further down Oxford Street is a block with what looks like graffiti from far but its actually a stonewall that celebrates gay rights and its movement over the past 40 years. It is referred to the CAMP stonewall and it is quite clever how they formed CAMP - Campaign Against Moral Protection and its a moving piece in terms of reading the sayings. Some are really good and some are sad to read as unfortunately the discrimination continues to exist.
I was surprised to see a protest a few weeks ago in the city whereby homosexuals were campaigning for more rights...at the time I must admit I wasn't sure what further rights they were looking for but I've later found that gay marriages are still illegal here. Now for a place that has a bigger population of homosexuals and a country so liberal as Oz, I was surprised to hear the difference in treatment but I'm sure if the movement continues then finally equality will come into place.
