Today I went to school to get a qualification in Responsible Service of Alcohol which allows me to be able to work in a bar, gaming and casino facility. I wanted to get the certificate incase I do end up doing night shift work anywhere while I am in NSW but it was more for when I go to another city while I am travelling so I don't have to go sit in a classroom.
I was told this class is quite boring and is just a red tape exercise however I found it really interesting to learn about the Liquor Laws and other legislative framework they have here and the steps that they do take to tackle bad behaviour by customers and by bars and clubs themselves. We also went over the impacts of alcohol abuse and ways to combat abuse.
I am actually more aware of the steps bars/clubs take to get people to notice not to drink themselves stupid or help their mates and the teacher that I had in InfrontStaffing was really good and made the subject sound interesting.
Most people have said it was easy to pass - this is fact...anyone who doesn't get 100% in the exam has something wrong with them and should be banned! That's how easy it is. Needless to say I got 100% which is why I can say this.
After class, I got held up in George Street as did every other pedestrian and vehicle with a Chinese Dictator protest. I must admit I didn't read the leaflets they were handing out but just to see George Street shut off at 3pm was something I don't think I'll be seeing again.
I then went into Newtown in the evening which has been described as the 'Camden of Sydney' and I can see why with its rows of cafes and the graffiti was really cool to see. All it was missing was the Lock. I managed to find a few Indian grocery stores that are run by Fijian's so know now where to go if I need any emergency supplies of Thums Up...but the Coles/Woolies has everything else I need.
