Where I stayed
02/05 - The first day involved us meeting each other and introducing ourselves opposite to the harbour so wasn't a bad sight at all. We walked around the botanical gardens (which is now incidentally my local park) and then went jet boating. This was very cool to be speeding up and down the harbour and the driver even gave us a tour of the different sites along the coast. It doesn't matter at all where you sit...you will get wet!
Once checking in the hostel, we went out for our first group dinner to the local restaurant (Five O's) which is a nice little place to go and eat and then came the legendary goon
I do have to say the initial sips of it are actually ok but after a few glasses...its not so good and when everyone is drinking it in your hostel room and spills it around, its not so easy to go to sleep smelling it!
3/05 - The second day was to sort out boring paperwork out at the bank (the bank I must say is a beautiful looking building - never said that about a bank but it is like a museum) and the medical centre but after lunch in Darling Harbour, we went to the Sydney Aquarium. Not being a big Aquarium fan I wasn't expecting much however this is an Aquarium I could happily spend a few hours in as there is a lot more to see and the fish tank that you feel you are in was a new one in terms of Aquariums for me.
Keeping with the water theme, the plan for the night out was to go to a club called The Gaff which on their website they claim that it is "Raw, uncensored, and uncut nightlife, The Gaff is the place for party animals
Fair play to them as it is surely a night that I'll remember as it one hell of a crazy place with the games and competitions that they have on....most involves embarrassing yourself and losing items of clothing you have on. I voluntarily (yes your read right voluntarily) actually signed up to enter the wet t-shirt comp. The winner would win $200 but I did it more as a tick off the checklist. There was no way in hell I was going to win unless I stripped...I made a mental note whilst on stage to save the dignity that remained while standing on stage and getting water poured on me from a bucket! I don't see myself participating in such a competitions again unless the prize is that good!
