Before coming to Malaysia, there has been a big craze at spa's worldwide about fish spa's and in Malaysia feet therapy in regards to reflexology and these fish spa's are a big deal.

I therefore felt compelled to indulge in being acquainted with Doctor Fish a.k.a Garra Rufa Fish a.k.a the fish that eats your dead skin on your feet. Now I managed to find a really good deal in the Central Market to get this done for a 10 minute session (which is all I think anyone would really need...unless your feet are that nasty!) for just over a 1.

Now the scariest bit for me (and I think for most people) is putting the feet in the pool/bowl or whatever it may be. In my case it was a pool and being naturally a very ticklish person choosing to do this experience could have turned ugly in either my girly screams (I have to admit I do this on the very rare occasion but trust me when it comes to tickling it comes out!), hurting/crushing the fish with my feet by going in too quick or just plain chickening out and let the woman keep her 5 Ringgit.

I ended up with the first two options...being very hesitant in putting the feet in as I was having thoughts that they may turn into piranha's and eat me and when the feet did touch one or maybe a couple it did tickle me and the girly flinches all came out, which gave all the other people doing it a good laugh!

Eventually I dipped in and I must say its a very strange sensation the urge to kick out or the tickling didn't really go away but it was a mind over matter experience and I managed to keep the feet in and the fish seemed to have a good time at my feet for the 10 minutes.

So the conclusion does the feet feel more softer and healthier...I have to say I actually think it does work but can't say for how long. Apparently the fishes have an enzyme that they leave after they're done chewing the dead skin which revitalises the skins and still a few days later they still feel relatively smooth and after the session there was a glow to them.

I would recommend doing this experience just to tick it off as something you've done but warn you not to pay over the odds for it as its not necessary.
