We are sat on the plane writing our 2nd entry and this is literally the first time since the initial post where we've managed to find the time to sit down, reflect on the day gone and start writing our blog. I suppose it ends but it also starts here.

It ends because we had to say goodbye to my mum and my sister.  But it also starts a new chapter for them because they can look forward to extended holiday breaks in Australia.  Thankfully, due to the recent sterling aussie dollar crash, Ali’s dream of swanning around drinking latte macchiato and eating poachy eggs has probably been replaced with a live in nanny, namely my mother and her mother living out of the promised granny flat (shed) in the back.  It ends for us because we’ve finally, after much putting off and deliberating, have finally left the UK, but a new start beckons as a new life in Australia awaits.  For now though, we have to put that to the back of our minds and concentrate on the task in hand, which is to transport a ruck of toiletries through the countries of Africa.

We have literally bought every travel product Boots has to offer.  We have bite cream, ear plugs, coconut butter, face wipes, hand cream, face cream, face wash, hand wash, hand and face wash and cream.  You get the idea.  The concept of where you buy stuff, earn points to put on your card to then buy further stuff has really tied us in knots.  Alison’s tight nature meant we had to spend every LAST penny in Boots.  They are about to report record profits.

Leaving Boots was our first "reflection" moment because Elbow was playing in the background.  The sound of Mirrorball was gracing the departure lounge of Terminal 1.  The lyric “Everything has changed” made Alison cry.  Thanks Pete.  I think Pete and I will be good friends, namely because he’s one of the few people not to see the car crash that was the Jay-Z and Linkin Park moment.  Thank God we’re not friends on facebook, he probably still retains a small modicum of respect for me.  Ruth don’t ruin it!  Khim Tan is another matter entirely however, she’s been relegated to least favourite Tan below Yue Li.  Oh how the mighty fall.

So anyway I’m going to eat a fromage sambo so will hand over to the small person next to me…

Well… where can I go from there? Stuey is quite the wordsmith (or at least he thinks he is)… maybe that’s why he is so good at rapping. It’s been a hectic few days, packing the last of our stuff, buying the contents of boots , messing up Jacky’s house and a Horsman family outings to see Shrek 3D (Do the roar…). It feels like it’s all come around so quickly, but I guess that is always the case. Didn’t even get a chance for goodbye facebook update or last minute profile picture change… sorry Vicks, Khim, Ruth, Lau, Abby & Raz… no time for even a goodbye call :( We’ll be on skype when we can tho so you can see us in the Wilds of Africa!! That’s it for now… now it’s just a case of hoping that our driver is there in Entebbe to take us to Hotel Africana so our adventure can begin!
