Hi folks,

On Friday(3rd March), still in Yangshuo, China I (sanj) took a chinese cookery class, it was pretty great. I made dim sums (dumplings), stir fried aubergines, chicken with cashew nuts, beerfish and spinach. We ate what we made, and I'm proud to say I survived my own cooking. Infact, my aubergines were rather great...!

That afternoon, I returned to meet Jay and the group and we catch a bus to Giulin - where we caught a overnight train to Shengzen (border town to HK). The cabins were rather cramped, with 6 of us in there, but ok for 1 night. I managed to end up above a snorer...arrghhh!!! Sorry Don! That evening, we ate snacks, and I tried a chinese pot noodle...same same as UK except you get 3 sachets instead of one (as I recall).

On Sat morning, we arrived in Shengzen, passed immigration into HK. What a complete change! Kowloon (on the mainland) is ultra modern, people speak english (thank god!), people are very trendy and this is a shopping heaven...yippee!! To top that off, the hotel was pretty great with views over HK skyline. I do like HK, although HK doesn't like my phone - since it's stopped working since we arrived and keeps switching off! Therefore, PLEASE text Jay's phone or email us if you need to contact us.

And so...We finished our Far East Tour that (Saturday 4th March) night, and bid farewell to our group and group leader. It's been fun, exciting, unusual and enjoyable. We've made some good friends from all over the globe and hope to keep in contact with many of them.

During the final meal, I managed to accidently touch my eye with some spice on my finger, and it was burning all night...! I was walking around like popeye that evening ..!

On Sunday, we moved hotels and met up with Jay's ol' uni mate - Vicky. He's a HKer, and very nice guy with a 1 month old baby girl addition to his family. We had lunch with his family, and a guided tour around the harbour that evening, culminating in the Aqua Bar. This skytop bar was very exclusive, my London mates would've esp loved this place, but like top westend prices, over $100 HK for a beer and a coke. Needless to say, I sipped my drink slowly and we enjoyed the harbour views that night.

Yesterday, we travelled on the star ferry to stanley market and the beach (on HK island), although the weather wadn't behaving...very overcast. We then went Victoria Peak, to take in some stunning views...again the weather wasn't playing ball...and we ended up walking around in clouds...! Oh well, next time hey...?

I had a nice chicken curry last night...mmm..been ages since, from a local indian takeaway stall with some veg samosas...mmm and a beer...mmm!

Having dinner at her friends' place tonight then out for a drink or two...

Tomorrow, we're off to Singapore so will post an update then.

Hope to post photos in Singapore or Oz soon.

Take care everyone,

Love & Regards,

Sanj n Jay
