After spending the night beside a road-side lake, we awoke to rain. It's common in New Zealand this time of year and we were well prepared with both rain pants and jackets.

Thankfully our trip planning seemed to be going well as we had an "all-weather" activity planned for the day - kayaking on the Okarito Lagoon to do some bird watching! Both of us were pretty excited to see what the 2.5 hour trip would provide and we were not disappointed.
