Well, we wanted to see Fox Glacier . . . and what a way to see it!! This method combined both a sightseeing flight of the glacier and one of the "adrenaline rush activities" that New Zealand is famous for - all in one!  Watch the video!

(From Missi's Journal)
Today I did something I never dreamed I would dare do.  In fact I would have sworn to you I never would, never-the-less I found myself suiting up, boarding, and taking off in a tiny prop plane  . . not to be landing in the plane. Aaron and I headed out and up with beautiful views of Fox Glacier below. Once we were at 12,000 ft, it was time to open the hatch door and jump out. WHAT?! Wait, what are we doing again?! It was windy, very windy, and I watched as Aaron and his tandem jumper seemed to be sucked from the open door and disappear instantly . . and it was our turn. I scooted my butt forward toward the open door of the plane. We were in the clouds. I operated myself into the position I'd been trained to take. No thinking - just operating - was the only way I could get myself to leave the plane. There I was sitting on the edge of the open door, wind was loud, sky was bright, 12, 000 ft above Fox, about to fall out and fall . . .

As we tumbled and flipped through the air, my stomach flipped and my lungs yelled, and my eyes were opened wide taking it all in - wow - what a rush! We were falling and FAST! Here it gets hard to describe - it was just SURREAL. You know something "not right" is happening, but your brain has no references for what's happening so it just seems UNREAL. You see the earth coming towards you and you are falling at 120 miles an hour, but aside from the air being thin it doesn't feel like falling should. I loved every second of it - just an amazing rush and an amazing ride down on the parachute.

After our dive we went and had beers with a couple who had jumped just before us. We all just elated from the experience, and were quick to agree that it was AWESOME!

Great video. It makes it look like you jumped out of an airplane at 12,000 feet, but I know you wouldn't scare your poor ole dad like that.

So would you say the scenery rivals that at SkyDive Chicago? Wakka wakka! Looks fantastic!

This is totally awesome! We are going diving next month and this was such an inspiration, however I imagine skydiving in Davis wont be nearly as beautiful of scenery. Missin you Missi and Aaron :)

I was howling once I saw you exit that airplane door! At first I thought the other diver to whom you were attached was Aaron, and that his face didn't look quite the same because of the G forces! LOL! Aaron looks so much better! Fabulously exciting video of you soaring through the air, geared up and piggy-backed to a pro who clearly knew what he was doing. Wonderful experience! Great video record of the event from beginning to end. Love it - love you! - Mom in rainy, rainy San Francisco

Heres hoping you have arrived safely in Bali and are enjoying your Birthday Aaron. Think of you two every day and hoping to see a new report soon. Love and miss you both.
