What I did
Visited Yanga Station Homestead and Woolshed
People in caravan parks are so friendly, I got talking to the couple in the van next door. They are a retired couple who are "very careful with their money' and can manage just as well travelling around the countryside in their van as they can at home. As long as they can supplement their income by playing and winning regularly on the poker machines. Apparently the "pokies"at Balranald Ex-Services Club play very well!
Apart from that piece of excellent advice that I chose not to use they told me about Yanga Station which is the oldest property in the area and according to this pair well worth a visit.
Early in the morning I paid my fees for a second night n the caravan park and packed up Sophia for a day trip to Yanga. The property was sold to the NSW government in 2005 and is now a National Park and is fabulous. I arrived early for the guided tour and made friends with one of the volunteer gardeners who invited me into the kitchen of the grand house and made me coffee; what a privilege.
After happily wandering about for a couple of hours I headed back towards Balranald and checked out the woolshed which is oldest or biggest or best in NSW. I can't remember which but it was great and absolutely deserted.
