As the title suggests, this entry describes a detour. Life shows again, how you never really know where you're gonna end up.

This is Lauren here, solo for now as I joined my parents in Florida last week because of some medical issues my dad is having. I arrived from Victoria and spent a few days with them at "The Great Outdoors" on the Space Coast of Florida.
My dad had a cardiac catheterization procedure, which went okay --but we were all dismayed and worried to find that he needs bypass surgery, and at the doctor's urging--it should be soon. It wasn't easy, but thanks to some non-stop arrangings and the networks of Mark and Robin (my bro and sis-in-law), my mom and dad were soon on a Southwest flight to NY.  I on the other hand, became the "driveaway" service, taking the behemoth Jeep up the I-95 from FL to NY. I should arrrive back in NY with the rest of the family tomorrow.

As you can probably imagine, this whole thing has been quite unnerving. We're all worried about my dad, and our big trip couldn't have been more inconveniently placed in the way of being available for my he and my mom as they went through this.

So, along with all the arranging for the medical logistics, Michelle has been busily working on her end trying to make changes to allow us to delay our departure (change at least 3 sets of flights, including an inter-country flight in India!) We're keeping our fingers crossed that we'll be able to get a schedule change for the main tickets we have.

that's the scoop for now--this is not such a fun entry, for a not-very- fun adventure, but I know some of you were looking for the latest--since its been so long since last i wrote. Plus, I really wanted to get some map pin -credit for all this damn traveling!!

it's all travel!!
Hey there Lauren,

Hope your dad is stabilizing and you all are feeling more hopeful about his issues. Don't worry-- with a little sweat equity, travel is always arrangeable and even I-95 up the East Coast counts as valuable travel experience. I'm so glad I'm on your blog list-- it's great to keep up with what you are doing! Write or call anytime.

love,
Barb

So the journey has already begun
Laren,
So so sorry to hear of this development. Having gone through heart stuff with Bill I understand how unpleasant all of this can be. But they caught it now before it became an even bigger problem and before you got on a plane and got a call in India to come home. The universe is looking out for all of you my dear. I'm sure you will be able to change your flights. It's something I do on a regular basis for Indonesian flights. And when you do finally get on the plane you will be able to do so knowing that your dad has been taken care of. Please write with any news regarding developments and give our love to Michelle and of course to you. Everytime I drive by your street it feels like you are both still here. Love, Vicki
