I arrived in Debark (which is the base for Simien mountan trekkings) in the late afternoon. Luckily, I met again Gabor and Eszter, the couchsurfers I had met before in Nairobi and also South Omo. They were together with an Estonian guy, who is traveling overland in his minibus. Fortunately, we organized a trek (mainly by car) all together, which turned finally out to be very cheap!
We went all together (including an armed scout, which is mandatory) in the minibus up to Chennek camp (which is on about 3600m), from there we drove up a little bit further and then walked up one peak, which is about 4400m above sea level. The landscape of the whole national park is amazing, I've never seen anything like that, it is definitely very different from any other mountains I've visited so far...
After a very cold (!) night in the tent, we went around a little bit more, and drove back slowly to Debark. We finally had some smaller problems (or discussions) with the park management, as they wanted to charge us for more than 2 days (as we climbed the one peak, which means you have to pay for 5 days...), but finally it worked out and we payed the 2 days.
Another night in Debark, and the next morning we split up. I went South to Gondar, the others went together in the minibus North to Axum.
