Who would have thunk? My second week in Matara, I get wind of a piano/cello concert the Alliance Fran�aise is putting on! In an old community center reeking of mosquito coils I was treated to a wonderful concert. A Sri Lankan pianist, with her husband on cello, played a wonderful set of Mozart, Beethoven, Grieg, etc...
It was certainly not the cultural experience I was expecting but was really, really excellent!
