WOW!!!!!!

Woke up this morning under huge Sequoia trees in the Lower Pines campground at Yosemite. All is going well and we have seen squirrels and deer.

The girls are with Darren getting their ranger booklet filled out so they can get a badge.  We will go for a stroll after lunch when we move our RV to its new nightly location.

The hour it took to get from the front park entrance to the campground included the thinnest, windiest roads I've ever been on.   Doing that in the RV beast was not easy and quite freaky, especially when huge buses came on the other side.  Holly was physically ill (so that was more fun I had to deal with while being wobbled from one side of the road to the other.)

I have never seen a mountain more spectacular and it is just awe inspiring.  Pictures really can't do the area justice as you are surrounded by these enormous trees and sheer cliff mountains.

After finding out the campground does not have showers, Darren and I
experienced our first RV shower...but it was better than nothing. We
got the shuttle after breakfast to the Visitor Centre and the girls got
junior ranger booklets and will earn their badge by doing different
activities.  Emily almost feels too old for this but Holly is very
excitedly completing her book.

After enjoying lunch in the RV (rolls) and moving to our new nights position a few spaces away in the Lower Pines Campground, we headed off to Mirror Lake for a walk.
Apparently this was not a lake at the moment but rather "Mirror
Meadows" as it is all dried up.  The walk is a pretty easy one and
normally would have been no issue to anyone but we turned around when
the road started to have a gradual incline.  Can't take any risks with
my back at the moment.  Just glad to be here.  The girls were both
ready to go for a rest anyway.

We pottered around for a while
and then went to Curry Village which is only a short wander from the
campsite.  On the spur of the moment we decided to get pizza which cost
$20 but it was HUGE and the four of us got through about ¾ of it.
Oh...if I haven’t mentioned it before...everything is huge in America.

Tonight
at 8pm the campground held a ranger talk in the amphitheatre.  It was
alright but we left early as the talk was primarily on the Merced River
that runs through Yosemite and didn’t hold much interest for the
girls.  Darren and I both commented on how welcoming everyone is here.
When we were at the ranger talk and had to mention where we were from,
everyone clapped.

I must say, the service at Yosemite is just
fabulous.  Friendly staff are more than helpful and polite. So far
all the people we have met have greeted us with a smile whether they
were working or a visitor themselves.  The free shuttles around the
valley floor make touring around easy and you only wait a maximum 10
minutes before the next bus comes.  You can hire bikes if you like
too...or go on a horse ride.

Wow! You guys are having a ball! It is great to read and see!
Seeing Hollywood brought back memories! It is not the prettiest town is it?Iaughed and laughed when I read about driving-didn't I say to you that Craig found it hard and I was always saying "Move over, move over!"
Looking forward to sharing more of your holiday with you - so glad to see you standing and looking so happy!
Lots of love to you all xox

It is an amazing place. Even more so as some of you know how close we came to not coming. I am taking it easy but refuse now to let the problem feature in every post and ruin what is to be a great holiday I'm sure. I just must be careful and know my limitations. I have had such a lot of stress before coming...it is now time to try and get everything back on track. Hugs to you all.
