we arrived at wave rock & booked into a cabin so we thought, the booking office was something out of the wild west,we moved on to our cabin & we drove through these amazing salt lakes, our cabin was a bungalow so big a family of 6 would be comfortable in, the rock was also amazing, shaped in a wave form hence the name colours also wonderful sight, then had a very steep climb onto the top where the view was stunning , carried on to the aboriginal caves where we came across many stories & drawings,
after watching an amazing starry night where stuart & kev argued about the different displays & listend to the frogs croaking what an amazing noise,we awoke to start travels onto perth where we caught the plane to ayes rock, we left kev at this point to travel onto cairns to meet up with rachel & her parents.
we booked into our resort which was called the camel & after an early night we arose at 4.30 in the morning to venture up the rock to see the sunrise, we arrived at a spot where we had to walk 2 k first, this was an experience as we hadn't encountred so many flies as this before, we saw this huge ball of red rise above us amazing, we sat & ate our breakfast with stuart swatting the flies, certain people can imagine him doing this!!! the tempertuare was increasing by the minute & we still had another 10k to do (it is a very large rock to walk around!!) we arrived back around 11am very hot & sweaty but very happy ,then to have a quick change for a trip to kata tjuta, another amazing trip, trouble was on this trip we encountered thunder & lightning & heavy rain but not to let this dampen our spirts, we plodded up to the gorge where we also looked out for the roos but think they had second thoughts with the storm, yes we were soaked to the skin but the heat soon dried us, we were booked for an evening meal out in the dessert but this was canncelled due to the weather.
next will be cairns so keep watchying this space!!
