After a week in Buenos Aires we headed back over to Uruguay for the first leg of the World Cup play off between Uruguay and the Aussies, meeting up again with our Kiwi mate Steve.

The fact that I was wearing my new Forlan Uruguay shirt to the game didnīt go down too well with those Aussies who noticed (though to be fair there were only about 200 in total so having anyone in their section was a bonus !!)... I stuck to my "Iīve not been to Australia before so how can I support you" comment for quite a while until I had a few beers and then started mentioning our current rugby and cricket dominance and why would I want to support them (itīs important to make the most of this short term situation!)...

Overall though, the day was lots of fun and fairly beer fuelled. It also became apparent when the song sheets (prepared by the Aussie embassy) came round that the fans werenīt overly aware of what to do at a football match... Alhtough to be fair, I guess you canīt blame them though as footie probably comes about 87th on their list of sports below lacrosse... Plus, we did get to sing Waltzing Matilda which was quite funny, I havenīt sung that since primary school!

Anyway, the Aussies played really quite badly, but luckily our seats were below pitch level and we were all having too much fun being drunk to really notice what was going on !
